All our clothing items are individually created by very experienced tailors, seamstresses and cutters based at our head office in Exeter. This allows us to create bespoke clerical wear, which meets the individual requirements of our clients. Below are just some of the recent items we have produced.
Commissioned Chasuble, stole and veil set
A beautifully embroidered Chasuble, stole, veil and burse commissioned by Trinity Episcopal Church, Upperville has been completed by J.Wippell & Co. Ltd. The motif and colours were agreed to compliment the church kneelers. The intricate embroidery is completed by machine with shading to provide the effective detail and depth. Another high quality commission by Wippell's experienced textile team.

Processional Cross
J.Wippell & Co. recently completed processional cross design No. 1959. This high quality processional cross is finished in polished brass and features the Agnus Dei and the four Evangelists. Each medallion is modelled in relief with a coloured backing. The cross measures 15” across the arms and comes complete with jointed medium oak stem., the processional cross is hand made in Devon (UK), with specialised local crafters contributing the engraving, lacquer and french polish.


Metalwork Restoration - Chalices
J.Wippell & Co.'s, experienced metalworker James Sowden has recently repaired and renovated a customer’s chalices. Both chalices had broken bowls, which required intricate repairs to the stem.

Textile Restoration - Pulpit Fall, Veil and Burse
Recenlty Restored, this Pulpit Fall, Veil and Burse have been lovingly restored by experienced J.Wippell & Co. staff for Emmanuel Church, Newport, Rhode Island, US.
The embroidery, initially created by Wippell over 80 years ago, has been carefully removed from the original fabric and a new silk backing attached. You have to agree, it looks looks like a brand new classic!

TreffuleƩ Altar Cross
This beautiful TreffuleƩ Altar Cross has been lovingly hand crafted in Exeter using the finest materials sourced in Britain by our metal craft expert James Sowden.
The TreffuleƩ Cross is synonymous with the cross of St Philip.
The cabochon settings representing the oak (faith & endurance), while the gemstones symbolise love & truth.

Colour Matched Double Breasted Choir Cassocks
Recently commissioned Double Breasted Choir Cassocks with a specially designed Cassock Band supplied to All Saints Episcopal Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The lightweight teal coloured fabric was successfully sourced to meet the unique requirements of the Church.
Commissioned Cope and Mitre
The Cope and Mitre pictured are part of a complete 'Festival Set' commissioned by St Peter's Anglican Church, Tallahassee, FL. The main fabric of the cope and mitre is Gold Fairford, the orphreys were made using blue and gold Fairford edged in white, blue and gold braid and trimmed with antique gold fringe and tassel.

Academic Gown and Hood
The photograph shows an academic Gown and Hood which was recently commission by a Director of Music at an American Cathedral. He commented ‘I couldn’t have been happier with the final product. I look forward to getting a lot of use out of this regalia over the course of my career’.
